Spacemade is a UK-based developer of workspaces, with locations in London, Birmingham and Leeds. Spacemade designs private office space, coworking, and enterprise suites for hire or permanent occupancy, focusing on premium serviced facilities and flexible contracts.
Here you’ll witness the conversion of a Georgian townhouse, featuring a Grade 2-listed chapel, into a modern coworking space and event venue. The tour follows a 16-week renovation process, comprised of before-during-and-after site visits and interviews. At the start of the project, we speak to Jonny Rosenblatt, Co-Founder of Spacemade, who outlines the vision for this ambitious scheme. You’ll also hear from Design Manager Maria, who describes the team’s efforts to retain unique heritage details. Midway through the renovation, we drop into the Queen Anne Street site to get a sense of how its new sister space might look.
As the build process advances, we revisit 32 Welbeck Street. You’ll see how Spacemade navigates the challenges of construction in a listed environment, against the clock, to deliver a remarkable workplace destination. More classy members’ club than office, the new asset offers fully optimised space with premium, on-demand facilities. There are breakout spaces, coworking areas, private offices, onsite catering, and a library, plus high-end furniture and finishes. And the converted chapel, once a place of orthodox worship, is now a wholly unorthodox event venue. With its high-domed ceiling, period features, and modern event amenities, it’s a unique blend of old and new, and a truly stunning space.
